Overlooking the Civic Plaza in the center of San Francisco, City Hall stands as an inspiring example of Beaux Arts architecture.
Since its construction the Trans American Pyramid has become a distinctive building in the San Francisco skyline. It is most well known for its unconventional shape which was designed to allow sunlight to reach the roads below.
One of San Francisco's most prominent landmarks, Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill offers panoramic views of the city, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and more. Admission into the tower and the surrounding Pioneer Park is free but there is a nominal charge for the elevator ride to the top. Built in 1933, the tower stands 210 ft (64 m) tall and is located in the North Beach area of the city. Open daily.
